What is DEF Fluid?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a non-toxic blend of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water used in diesel engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. It’s stored in a separate tank and injected into the exhaust, where it reacts with nitrogen oxides (NOx) and converts them into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. This process helps diesel engines meet EPA emissions standards without affecting engine performance.
DEF is required for most diesel vehicles and equipment built after 2010 and is critical for reducing emissions and maintaining compliance.
